A Message From Our Leadership

Passover begins this Friday night, and as many of us make our preparations to attend community seders in synagogues or homes, I am proud of the extraordinary work Federation, with our partners organizations, leads to ensure that every Jewish family around the world is able to gather together in peace as each of us reconnect to the story of Passover.
Because of your generosity, Federation addresses bigotry and hatred through education and advocacy. We recently participated in the AUM Holocaust Education Program where high school students from Montgomery honored the lives lost to the Holocaust and heard stories from two holocaust survivors, Max Herzel and Riva Hirsch. Click to watch the Alabama News Network clip and read the article.
We are also ensuring local Jewish children have strong connections to their Jewish identity through the PJ Library program. This year, PJ Library has created a special family-friendly Haggadah. PJ Library subscribers in Central Alabama were able to order a free set of six copies, which arrived in time for Passover to support the Jewish journey of families raising young children.
The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, thanks to the financial support of the national Federation movement including the Jewish Federation of Central Alabama, is able to provide free Passover food to Jews in need and to support holiday programs and celebration of Jew around the world. Thank you for providing hope and inspiration to thousands of people locally and across the globe.
We wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy and meaningful Passover.
